The director of the Galician Food Quality Agency, together with the managing director of Galicia Calidade, attended the event today
The director of the Galician Food Quality Agency of the Regional Ministry of Rural Affairs, Martín Alemparte, together with the managing director of Galicia Calidade, Ana Méndez, attended the Ribeiro DO awards ceremony. There, he reaffirmed the regional government’s commitment to the wine sector and to promoting distinctive quality as one of the pillars of rural development in Galicia.
In his speech, he emphasised that designations of origin represent much more than a seal of quality, as they promote the creation of added value, preserve productive heritage, strengthen the identity of local regions and generate opportunities for people living and working in rural areas. In this vein, he emphasised that distinctive quality not only guarantees the origin and quality of products, but also helps to shape the region, reinforcing the connection between food, the landscape, culture and the know-how accumulated over generations.
He also highlighted the role of the Ribeiro Designation of Origin as one of the leading names in Galician wine and an example of how excellence, authenticity and a strong link to the territory constitute the best guarantee for successfully tackling the sector’s future challenges.
The Agency’s director congratulated this year’s award winners, emphasising that their work helps to enhance the prestige of the DO and of Galician viticulture as a whole.
